Bio: Wayne Allen Danielson (b. December 6, 1929, Burlington, Iowa) holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Stanford University. He taught at Stanford, the University of Wisconsin, and served as dean of the University of North Carolina's journalism school and of the University of Texas School of Communication. His research has led to the development of more than thirty operating programs for tools such as readability indexes, automatic news indexes and stylistic advice to authors. He also served as founding editor of Journalism Abstracts, now Journalism & Mass Communications Abstracts, a publication of the Association for Education and Journalism and Mass Communication.
