Bio: Roger W. Jones (1908-1993) was born in New Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Cornell University and received a master's degree from Columbia University. In 1933 he moved to Washington, DC, and went to work for the Bureau of the Budget. During the Eisenhower administration Jones served as Assistant Director for Legislative Reference and as Deputy Director of the Bureau. President Eisenhower appointed him chairman of the Civil Service Commission in 1959 where he served until the start of the Kennedy administration. President Kennedy appointed him Deputy Under Secretary of State for Administration. In 1962 Jones returned to the Bureau of the Budget where he served as special assistant to the Director, as Assistant Director, and as a consultant, until he retired in 1975.
