Bio: Harry Huntt Ransom (1908-1976) was an educator and university chancellor at the University of Texas at Austin. He began teaching English at the University of Texas from 1935 to 1938, was assistant profession from 1938 to 1942, associate professor from 1946 to 1947, professor from 1947 to 1951, assistant dean of the Graduate School from 1951 to 1953, associate Dean from 1953 to 1954, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1954 to 1957, vice president and provost from 1957 to 1960, president from 1960 to 1961, chancellor of the University of Texas System from 1961 to 1971, and chancellor emeritus from 1971 to 1976.
