Bio: Hugh Heyne Smythe (1913-1977) was a member of the U.S. Delegation to the 16th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and served as a senior advisor to several United Nations commissions and committees. He was the U.S. Ambassador to Syria from 1965 to 1967 and U.S. Ambassador to Malta from 1967 to 1969. He was also a professor of sociology at various institutions.
