Bio: Jessie Ziegler Wand, also known as Jessie Ziegler Burch (b. Jessie D. Ziegler, August 25, 1901, Houston, Texas-d. October 2, 1991, Austin, Texas), secretary and reporter. She worked as a newspaper reporter in Houston, Texas and was a member of the Women’s Advertising Club of Houston before moving to Austin, Texas. In Austin, she worked as secretary to Governor Ross S. Sterling from 1931 to 1932. Wand also briefly worked for State Senator H. Grady Woodruff, the Texas Highway Department, and the Texas Petroleum Council before her marriage to McAfee Wayland Burch in 1933. They divorced, and she married Lester H. Wand in 1940 and they lived in Austin, Texas.
